The Edge Building is a contemporary mixed use development located in downtown Edmonton. Completed in 2018, the building is distinguished by a south facing façade clad with approximately 500 solar panels, forming what was at the time of completion the largest vertical solar wall in Canada. Rising at ten storeys, the building introduces a clean, modern architectural form while maintaining a strong relationship to the public realm. Transparent, active ground-floor uses engage the street, and the building’s compact urban footprint supports walkability and downtown vitality.
In recognition of its architectural quality and urban contribution, The Edge received an Award of Merit at the Edmonton Urban Design Awards in 2019.
Today, The Edge operates as an active commercial building, with public facing uses at street level and institutional and professional tenants above, supporting consistent daily activity and long term occupancy within Edmonton’s downtown university core.
